The School of Health Sciences offers programs leading to the M.S. or Ph.D. degree in health physics, industrial hygiene(ergonomics), medical physics, toxicology, and environmental health. These training programs prepare graduates for positions in federal agencies, medical and academic institutions, or private industry. Two types of master's degrees are available.For the nonthesis option, the student takes a minimum of 33 semester hours of course work and completes a Master's project. This occupational hygiene program trains industrial hygiene practitioners and researchers to recognize, evaluate and controlenvironmental hazards in the workplace. To reach the educational goal which will enable graduates to esuccessfully develop, administer, and evaluate environmental and occupational health programs, MPH students are trained not only to recognize environmental and occupational hazards and their effect on health but to assess their social and economic impacts.
