The Integrated Biomedical Science Graduate Program (IBGP) is the only college-wide graduate program within the OSU College of Medicine and Public Health. It was developed to provide both breadth and depth of high quality training to prepare its graduates for successful careers in biomedical research. This is achieved through an efficient, rigorous curriculum designed specifically for graduate students in this program. The theme of the IBGP is "The Biology of Human Disease," and this is reflected in the topics of the Core Curriculum. These topics span the range from biochemistry and molecular biology through cell, tissue and organ biology, to integrated organ systems. This material is always presented so that the student will understand how the complex interactions of these mechanisms at different levels of organization lead to the expression of human diseases. Less extensive courses during the first year broaden the basic educational training for the students. These include Biomedical Ethics, Animal Models of Human Diseases, Bioinformatics, Research Problem Solving, and Biostatistics. The latter course has several modules that can be combined in different ways to meet the specific needs of individual students.
